The Pakistan Demographic Health Survey (PDHS) is the most authentic document on health indicators. It is an independent third party evaluation on standard health indicators, being carried out every five years across the country. The PDHS 2017-18 report shows significant improvements in health indicators when compared with year 2012-13. The Infant Mortality in KP decreased from 58 to 53, Under 05 years children mortality declined from 70 to 64. The Ante-natal care for pregnant mothers has improved from 60% to 80% and the skilled birth attendance improved from 48% to 67%. Similarly the vaccination coverage rose from 52.7% to 55% and Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (use of contraceptive methods) improved to 31% in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
