Health & Public Safety

Health is not just absence of disease but a state of overall wellbeing. In 1948, the World Health Organization (WHO) defined health with a phrase that is still used today. "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."Health and Public Safety in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards arising in or from the workplace that could impair the health and well-being of the public, taking into account the possible impact on the surrounding communities and the general environment. This domain is necessarily vast, encompassing a large number of disciplines and numerous workplace and environmental hazards. A wide range of structures, skills, knowledge and analytical capacities are needed to coordinate and implement all of the “building blocks” that make up Public Health and Safety systems so that protection is extended to both public and the environment.
